LAG Peräpohjolan Kehitys
The Peräpohjolan kehitys ry district is located in southern Lapland. The region is a lively rural area with diverse industry. It is well-advanced industrially and with tourism. The Arctic Circle crosses the region through the Rovaniemi city.
The district offers good educational opportunities ranging from secondary studies all the way to graduate degrees. Two cities are located within the district, Rovaniemi and Kemi. Including the cities, the district’s development programme covers approximately half of Lapland’s population.
The Peräpohjolan kehitys ry district includes: Kemi, Keminmaa, Tervola, Simo, Ranua, and Rovaniemi. The actual programme area covers 36,361 residents and an area of 15,458 km2.
The regional development programme of Peräpohjolan kehitys ry is called ’Living River Areas – a Lappish Part of Europe’. The goal is to support the voluntary development of rural areas, in accordance with the Leader methodology.
Peräpohjolan kehitys ry is ready for new challenges. We want to continue the development work with European colleagues and other stakeholders. This way, we increase our expertise, knowledge, and skills and assist one another in local development work.
